Ohtani Becomes An Angel
I would like to start this blog with “sports”.
Who is the most promising Major League player next year? I think that it would be Shohei Ohtani.
As you may know, he signed with Los Angeles Angels the other day.
I am a fan of Fukuoka Softbank Hawks. So, well, I have watched him as a player in an opponent team and he beat our team several times. Especially he was great in 2016.
Since he has done many things beyond cartoon stories so far, I would like to hope that he would do the best in even Major League in “2 way style”.
I think that he is the player who could become a Japanese superstar even in the major league after Ichiro.
There also seems to be a big expectations for him in the United States. He is on the top of ranking 100 promising players of the MLB site.
If you click on the picture, his profile will come out, It says “Long considered the best player in the world not affiliated with a Major League organization?” It is the biggest compliment on him isn’t it? And because of his 2 way style, he is introduced that “Known as Japanese Babe Ruth”. Well, I think that Kiyomiya looks like Babe Ruth more (laugh).
He was born in 1994. Personally, that is the year that I went to New York on business transfer from Tokyo. And then Hideo Nomo, one of the greatest pitchers in Japan came to Los Angeles Dodgers in 1995 and he caused “Nomo Mania” It was more than 20 years ago. OMG, time flies so fast.
I went to the Yankee Stadium a few times those days but I have not been to the West Coast. Even at the East Coast and Red Sox old fan knew “Nomo” at that time.
By all means, I want Otani to play hard and have a lot of “Shohei Mania” . Well, “It’s Sho Time.” I believe that the press absolutely would use this phrase.
