The Beatles’ drummer, Ringo Starr, will be decorated the “Knight” rank.
On Dec.29, the British government revealed the New Year’s decorating list and Ringo is on the list. They praise his contribution to music industry for many years. Another former Beatle, Paul McCartney has already received this in 1997. And Barry Gibb of Bee Gees will also be awarded the knighthood this time.
Has he not received it yet? That is my honest impression. It has been already 20 years since Paul got it. Oh yes exactly “it was 20 years ago today.”
From now on, we must call him Sir Ringo, or Sir Richard?
I think that he got a MBE in the Beatles era, so this is the second time to get decoration.
I myself am a big fan of the Beatles. I once went to Abbey Road Studio in London, and went to Liverpool and boarded a pleasure boat on the Mersey River. Liverpool’s airport is called Liverpool-John Lennon Airport.
In Liverpool, I took part in a 2 hour bus tour called “Magical Mystery Tour” that took us to the places related to the Beatles.
Therefore, I’m very glad to hear this news.
